Thanks for the responses. Maybe I wasn't clear enough in the way I worded the question but I was refering strictly the change sonicly, not to the performances, arrangements, or interplay of the musicians. In 72 the sound became all high end, very trebly. i. e. listen to Bertha from Skull and Roses and Hundred Year Hall back to back, it's not a subtle difference.
Does anyone know of any sites that deal with the history of their equipment, instruments, recording tecniques etc.
